Today i ate half a lamb chop, 2 bowls of Chinese pork, pear and pumpkin soup, 1 bowl of tofu soup, rice, 5 strawberries, 2 pieces of french artisan chocolate, 1 bowl of rice bubbles, 1 rice cracker, 2 slices of toast layered with avocado, cottage cheese and smoked salmon, 1 glass of milk, 2 glasses of water, 1 glass of chocolate soy milk, a piece of fish and a mix of vegetables. Hmmmmmmm LOL fat.

I have work tomorrow... ceebs. Farn and i made dan tart and fried rice the other day before going to Moonlight Cinema at Royal Botanical Gardens :) And it took me an hour to vacuum the whole house today... hehe my carpet feels so soft now wheeeeeeeeee :D

I can't remember what i've done this whole week but i finally watched Sherlock! Took my car to service and helped mum out at work. One of mum's patients showed me a picture of their 8 week old chihuahua in a macdonalds cup (in the cup holder of the car too LOL)! Too cuteeeeeee.. And I also had to pay $15 for parking one day (fuuuuuuuuuu) and... I had work today. It's too hot to do anything..... I think i had spare ribs one night? And I watched the sound of music last night.... Oh and i've been exercising nearly everyday. If you call brisk walking in the park with the dogs as exercise....

A glimpse at my semester timetable. The vet faculty hasn't enrolled us in our subjects yet so they gave us an overview to look at. Thursday will be hell since it's 9-5pm at freakn Werribee but at least they kind of gave us a day off on Tuesday.... if i want to wag two classes that day... and most probably will.... hehe

And i bought myself a pair of Steve Madden wedges :D Currently on sale from $160 to $47 and they come in patent black, nude and coral.

We went to Southbank Promenade as a family for Chinese New Year and it was so hot that i could feel my scalp burning. Maybe i should've put sunscreen on my scalp too... (my hair started flaking after chelsea beach....LOL ew) I even put sunscreen on my feet! We didn't see the main celebrations in Chinatown this year and instead spent most of our afternoon sipping young coconut juice and stealing spoons to scrape out the flesh.

CNY dinner made by mum: Chicken, Radish & Carrot soup, Oysters, Steamed Fish, Char Siu, Duck and Siu Yuk, Jai (vegetarian dish with black fungus, cabbage, chestnuts, dong gu etc) and Grilled Prawns. sooooooooooo good :D

You can't tell but i'm wearing this Dotti dress that has this mesh band around the stomach and it must have been a horrible sight after we left Crown Conservatory buffet HAHA. Other than that, i really love how this dress floats behind you as you walk due to the front hem being a lot shorter than the back.

Except... i somehow stood next to a girl who was wearing the same dress as me GAH i hate it when that happens. oh well at least it means we both have good taste xD lol......

Wawrinka vs Baghdatis, Margaret Court

Hello hello yes i am making an effort to not turn this blog into a food blog.

Yesterday after work, a group of us spent a day at the Australian Open. Even though we didn't get to watch Federer play (his opponent forfeited), we still managed to see other players such as Del Potro, Isner, Baghdatis and Wawrinka play. The best match would have been Wawrinka vs Baghdatis' since the sun had finally stopped burning my shoulder and the cool breeze made the already wild atmosphere even more enjoyable. Unfortunately our last bus/train was at 12am so we didn't get to see the last set.... but at least we saw Baghdatis rage live LOL broke 4 racquets oh dear.

Wawrinka (in black) ended up winning.

That paragraph must have been quite boring if you don't follow the tennis. Anyway, i ate a lot of junk/random food yesterday at the Aus Open. Calamari rings, two servings of hot chips, chicken strips, three mini hot cross buns, a lot of water, chips and a banana.

Oh yeah, and a few of us got pooped on by the seagulls flying above us. ewwwwwwwww at least it went on my hand and not my hair... LOL

LOLLLL.... it looks like something is going on between those two and Mandy wants in. Who knowssssssss xD

Anyway, i haven't told many people about this but i got into veterinary medicine :D It's going to be really challenging but i think i'll live. I even have to go to Werribee for uni once a week and soon board there in the last two years of the course. Oh, and i saw the cutest puppy in the pet shop today :DDDD

Monga Dessert Lounge, Box Hill (open 3pm-3am)

Hallo peopleeeee.. so i arrived back home nearly a week ago and have done much since! I won't be blogging about my trip to HK, Singapore & Canada since i already posted pictures on facebook but I came back feeling thankful for the opportunity to become closer to my family on the other side of the world. I wish i could've stayed longer than two weeks but apparently we're going to Singapore and Malaysia next year :D YAY

Anyway, all you need to know is is that Hong Kong is not as cheap as before so it really depends what you are looking for. Food and transport are still very affordable compared to Australia though.

Canada has amazing Boxing Day and New Year sales and i imagine America's would be even better. I shopped the most in Toronto... stocked up on winter clothing, make up at Sephora, perfume and of course Victoria Secret ;)

And this was my 3rd or 4th time to Singapore but my visits have always been brief.. since we only had one day to spare we decided that good food (imagine a feast of Chilli Crab Curry with Man Tou bread, Black Pepper Crab, Sambal KangKong etc...) and Marina Bay Sands would be the way to go :D

Unfortunately i didn't take a picture of the feast we had.. oh my god blogger fail right there :(

Anyway, the day after i got back Farn and i had pho in footscray with some of his uni friends and... i really struggled to finish my bowl of pho. Why did i order large....

In the end i just hid the remaining meat in the soup and only finished the noodles hehehehe xD tada

And then we had dessert at Monga Dessert Lounge in Box Hill! The atmosphere and decor of the place really reminds me of the cafes in Hong Kong - not as noisy but definitely a reliable place to meet up with friends once in a while.

The drinks above are Jasmine Tea and Mango & Aloe Vera Jelly Drink.

And a Waffle with Black Sesame Icecream & Sauce :D The icecream was good but nothing has beaten Gelare Waffles yet.....

LOL... two slices of waffle... two very different styles of eating. Clean versus Messy. Who do you think ate which side?

And lastly, Pumpkin Pancakes with Coconut Cream! To be honest, i thought they would be like fluffy pumpkin scones with whipped coconut cream but i guess that was too western.... And i could only taste chewiness. I don't know how that is possible but i guess the coconut cream and the chewiness of the pancake overpowered any hint of pumpkin. Damn.

So yes, maybe we ate too much after the biggest bowl of pho i have ever eaten in one go. I even felt sick in the car later but that went away. But who can have too much food in their life? Not me. I went back to Monga Dessert Lounge the next night.... hehe

Snagstand: Vegetarian sausage, Spicy Cheese Kransky & Chips.

I'm leaving for Hong Kong, Singapore & Canada this Sunday and i am super duper excited :DD But before i go i'll leave you with a recap of the past two weeks....

The picture above shows the Vegetarian Sausage (potato, smoked apple & sage) with Rosemary Mushrooms and Onions and Truffle Aioli, the Spicy Cheese Kransky and Rock Salt Chips from Snagstand. All very good for under $10 each except that the mock meat in the veg sausage didn't sit well with Farn and I. The texture is so hard to describe... like compact spongy bread... not sure. The taste is even weirder... i think the sage was too overpowering.

- I invested in a good pair of jeans.

- I permed my hair. The picture on the left shows my old hair but i actually permed my fringe (to the side) and the long ends of my hair... so now i have wavy hair and can control how curly i want it everyday... i find that it looks best after i shower.

So this is what i look like now... but everyday is a new Bedhair Day LOL so... it will probably change depending on how ceebs i am to take care of it. They had to trim away all my split ends first though so... i think it will look better when my hair is long again :)

Lemon Tart with Creme Fraiche at France Soir, Richmond.

I went out with Farn to eat Thai last night at Lemon Leaf in Knox Ozone. The Green Chicken Curry ($20) was creamy with enough spice and i liked the pieces of duck in the Duck Salad ($28) but still prefer Chin Chin's salad over this one. My favourite part of the dinner was the Coconut Rice ($3.50/head) though! You could literally see the coconut cream oozing out of it - that was how yummy it was :D This place is not cheap but we left feeling content and ready for a movie night and kebabs :) (I was not ready for the Ayran though.... LOL)

Anyway, that's all for this year... and i think it's my blog's 6th anniversary too? so merry xmas and i'll see you all next year :)

Hello! I am about two weeks behind on blogging about my awesome life (...) but i've done a lot besides working and helping mum out.

Today Farn and i ate dinner at TGI Fridays and i was pleasantly surprised by how big my $9.95 meal (Bruschetta) was. I also like Quesadillas now! Cheesy :DDDD Then we had Mocha Chip Icecream at Gelare yayayaya

I think my favourite moment last week was catching up with people i hadn't seen in AGESSSS at Gloria's house :) But i had to leave early for a family dinner at a Greek restaurant called Santorini on Glenferrie Road! :( Normally my dad would never eat Greek food but he bought this voucher online and off we went... All i can say is that this platter would have been better suited for two stomachs - not four - and i dislike red wine even more now. Good mussels and prawns but soggy calamari rings.

Oh yeah.. and Laura and i also got locked in the restaurant's toilet HAHA because the metal lock wouldn't turn and we couldn't even climb out the window due to the fly screen so a waiter had to kick the door open... rofl.. What made it even worse was that Laura had joked about getting stuck inside the cubicle and i carelessly replied with "don't worry we'll just climb out the window lol". omg she jinxed us @.@ LOL

It was also Farn's birthday the other day and i went out to have peking duck pancake (and heapssss more food) with him and his family :) His mum also baked an awesome chocolate sponge cake and i wish i had taken a picture of it to show you guys how pretty it was! I even ate the slice i took home for breakfast the next day hehehe...

I think that's all for now... i still have my op shopping haul, food adventures and other outings to blog about but in case you were wondering... this is what PLC's patchwork looked like this year!

summer night market

This summer i'm planning to do as many new things as possible.. and one of them is to visit night markets! So Farn and i went to the Suzuki Night Market at Queen Victoria Market last Wednesday night and it was a lot better than i expected. Just imagine a never ending maze of craft, vintage, delicacy and clothing stalls surrounded by food stalls from every cuisine possible...

We actually didn't eat dinner at the market because we wanted to try out the new Taiwan place on Swanston St/Lonsdale St (the one that has lines of people waiting outside 24/7....).

Farn ordered the "XXL Chicken Bento Box" (and it was a very big piece of chicken LOL...) and i decided on a Hot & Sour Noodle Soup because it was cold and i didn't bring a jacket....

Unfortunately, the food was either under or over seasoned (but the actual food is cooked well) and i prefer Box Hill's "The Booth" Taiwanese food a lot more (get THEIR hot & sour soup!!!!)

LOLL so of course we had to try what literally the whole market was lining up for that night (apart from the Korean potato skewers) - DUTCH PANCAKESSSS.

Warm, soft and fluffy... covered in butter and icing sugar hahaha not the most appealing photo but after it melted it was nostalgia all over.

I'm thinking chocolate sauce next time :) Oh and the home made lemonade with "lemon pulp" was nice too!

vintage skirt $15 - Global Vintage Collective

Now i only found two stalls worth buying vintage items from - a $15 skirt stall and one with a "2 items for $20" rack. The rest are your usual overpriced $35-75 range.

After browsing through every single stall (poor farn LOL), I decided it was either a $15 vintage skirt or a $2 lucky dip because i was definitely not going home empty handed hehe...

But then i chose the skirt because well... lucky dips are rarely worth it :(

The skirt looks rather blue, yeah? It's actually rather green and awesome to twirl around in :D

Anyway, I missed out on the French Festival and some outdoor cinema this year but there are plenty more night events to go to yayyyy

Hello ! Today was the day i finally submitted the 30% prac report which killed half my brain cells. And i also studied two lectures on the male and female reproductive systems which produced many awkward moments for everyone passing behind me in State library ... i mean it's not every day you randomly see someone watching a vasectomy online (they can be done in 3min btw) ... or every angle of the reproductive system possible.

But today was also the day that Farn and i went to Chin Chin (125 Flinders Lane) for lunch! link here

Dynamic and fun, this Thai restaurant instantly caught our eye with its funky interior design and fresh food. It's around $13-25 for main and ~$10 for dessert. Go Go bar is downstairs too but we'll leave that for another time...

Not your usual/most affordable lunch on a student budget (we ordered 2 mains & 1 dessert...), but it was certainly worth the experience. Or maybe it's just because we both eat a lot... since the two ladies next to us shared one main... But i say we should always splurge on the first experience - especially if you want to eat everything on the menu!!

There is a main dining area as well but we were lucky enough to get seats at the 'chef bar' before the place filled up completely.

We ended up ordering the "Steamed Spanner Crab & Chicken Salad with Ruby Grapefruit, Salmon Roe, Coconut & Fragrant Herbs" and a "King Prawn Pad Thai".

I don't usually eat Thai food but we will definitely be coming back for more after this!

And lastly... we indulged in "Palm Sugar Ice Cream Sundae with Salted Honeycomb & a Lime Jelly" for dessert :DDDD

It says palm sugar icecream sundae but it tastes like there was burnt caramel icecream too! (since the person preparing ours had a tub of that too) I've tried many icecreams but never this silky and creamy before!

Anyway i feel like the biggest food critic at the moment but out of all my foodie adventure posts... i think this is my favourite one so far! Probably because it has a bit more pezazzzzz than the other places i've been too.... a casual yet buzzing vibe... yay!

Uni is so stressful now... I still have a 30% worth prac report (ib biology pracs are nothing compared to this @.@) to submit and a 2000 word essay to write by the end of this week. Everything is going by my schedule at the moment (i give myself 3 days to procrastinate before i start each assignment) but i've been having really imaginative dreams and bad sleep lately. And this girl aspirated on pool water and puked out pink icing at me the other day at work. I discreetly swept that crap to the next lane with my board............

I really like this colour and design.... let's hope it fits well enough for me to buy (on sale)?

I hate bus rides.... i think i get bus sick but without the vomit. Just hate that heavy drowsy feeling...

It's a Just Jeans chambray skirt with elastic lining around the back. The reason behind this random giveaway is that it's too big for me (size 12) and fiona said that it's too hard to alter nicely. So i hope that someone (katherine??? wensi???) will make me proud and wear this skirt for me instead :D It's brand new too and has been sitting in my wardrobe for around 3 years so far..... Oh, and the pockets are still unopened.

Thank god for tension lines on the forehead being parallel to the marks left by swimming caps. Otherwise i'd have a semi permanent scar for life (like the vertical one on my face from i don't know...) I got a realllllllly defined swimming cap line today after work and it looked like i was trying so hard to be boho (those rope accessories people wear around their head) that i just engraved a line into my forehead... kind of reminds me of when clare tried to create her own dimple HAHA xD

But on the other hand, i got awesome wavy hair too! Usually it just looks straggly after i tie my hair into a bun and put the cap on.... so hmm

We learned about mastitis (intramammary infections caused by organisms that survive in the cow's surroundings) in cows and the milking industry this week... and vaccinations!

I think mum's cooking chicken wings. And i bought crunchy nut for myself.... loving the sweet milk.

There are many things that i hate. But what i hate at the moment are inconsiderate, rude and selfish people.

Oh, and arguing. If you've ever argued with me then you'll know how unreasonably stubborn i can be to make sure everything i say is right regardless of the crap that comes out of my mouth. But like i'd admit that then.

In other words, i hate arguing. But what i hate more is seeing people dissolve and disappear in someone else's anger. I think i'm going to take my mother's advice and NOT marry someone who is bad tempered. Because i would rather die alone than have to argue my way through everyday life.

I am so behind on blogging but i basically spent the last few days of midsem break cramming in research phys drafts and doing no anatomy oh my god... oh and heaps of shopping too ... i exchanged a Dotti skirt for a blazer, bought a Tokito dress ($50 off yay for myer carddd) for two formal events coming up, bought forever new shoes and got my eyebrows done. Oh, and i gate crashed Aa after party (not the ball) and the apartment too. Good times!

and mum got this for me :)

As for my dress and shoes........ i guess we'll just have to wait for pictures of the actual events :)

Oh, and I just learned how to formulate a diet for any animal via four different methods but i need a lot of background information first. So when i have time i will research and try to formulate diets for espresso and cino :) But if you want to try formulate a diet for your horse click here for the computer method...

So yesterday's picnic was a success, especially the last few hours :D hurray for cards and cameras.Thankyou to everyone who came (even if it was for an hour) and bringing food! Since half of us don't have our Ps but the other half are on/nearly on greens... I support glor's idea of going on a road trip next!!!! :D

Well it doesn't have to be a road trip. Can just be strawberry/raspberry etc picking :) Or beach. But main point is.. we should all meet up again soon :)

Anyway, my hands are unusually tanned compared to the rest of my arm and pictures of yesterday should be up on fb soon... i have a few from the last half but fiona should have everything rofl.

Yerp, you guessed it. Another food adventure post :DDDD

Pie in the Sky: "Mushroom Pie Floater in Pea Soup and Mash", "Korma Chicken Pie" and "Devonshire Tea"

So the other week Farn and I went Mount Dandenong and ate at Pie in the Sky and Miss Marples. And don't worry we did the 1000 steps too LOL i am so unfit.

I'm not really sure why i put so much effort into documenting these "adventures" online but i think it's a good way to keep track of what i found important in life at the time... hehe

And i swear i do more than just eat but i did read about a woman who lost her stomach and part of her oesophagus to stomach cancer in Sunday Life magazine..... :( how sadddddd i don't want to ever lose my stomach...

Anyway, we decided that Pie in the Sky made more traditional scones but the jam and cream complemented each other better in Miss Marples.

But yeah.. so far i've gone to the beach, eaten at Chinabar Signature Buffet on Burwood Highway, baked a cake, walked the dogs a million times, done 5% of my hw list, finished reading The Help - Kathryn Stockett, watched Johnny English Reborn ehehehe, ate at 1000 Pound Bend, watched School Rumble again, bought some clothes, gone clubbing and had work.

And there is still so much to do......... :D

Cute nightlights from IKEA Springvale...

I wouldn't mind having one except that i need to sleep in total darkness...

This week has been full of good food and too many assignments and tests. So far... i've done my prac report, online quiz and 50% blog assignment which i whipped up in 1.5 days and i hope you learn at least something about Deafness from it (no plagarism accusations please... my rationale and reference list were handed in in person).

The last thing to do is study for my genetics breeding test for animal health...

Anyway, IKEA's food really is cheap!

We bought spinach & cheese pancakes, swedish meatballs with mash, open salmon sandwich, carrot cake and some... daim cake i forgot the lolly name but it's like biting into a crunchy chocolate but toffee oozes out instead :D

Then on Tuesday i went out to Teppanyaki Inn on Collins Street for lunch and i highly recommend the calamari!!! Classy place and the $40 (choice of lunch set with steamed rice and miso soup) was well spent in good company as well .

Dinner would be about... double the price? eek

And today Jacky and i ate lunch at The Hardware Societe on Hardware Street off Little Lonsdale. Thanks Jacky :D

I really love finding and eating in these quirky cafes that sell good food for reasonable prices ($14-25). We decided to order three mains to share (two would be sufficient for two people but we're beast :DDDD) and had the Duck Confit, Grilled Salmon and the Saffron Scallops with Potatoes special.

And now i am one step closer to eating my way down Hardware Street :DDDD (it's going to take ages... i don't even think i could afford to eat everywhere in Melbourne before i die either)

Anyway, going on another food adventure tomorrow with Farn :DD and then there's a buffet next week too yayyyyyyyy fat.

Hmm, so i never shop at Forever New but their stuff is just too pretty to resist! I really really really like the first two dresses but I have nothing to wear them too so yeah....

I went to see a musical at Union House Theatre at uni last night with Farn and James :) It was called Peter Pan and Wendy and it really reminded me of house concerts... because it was solely run and orchestrated by one of the colleges and although it wasn't the best production i've seen it was still pretty entertaining and fun! I especially liked Smead and Captain Hook. I think I'll start going to more plays soon!

And then we met up with Jacky and ate at Shoya... which is where Hungy works !!!!

Why is our group so bad at catching up? That's it. I'm organizing a catch up during midsem and you all have to come.

And I need to make my life more interesting and adventurous. I feel like i am so bad at some things but can actually do it if i keep on trying. I think it's time to look into going on exchange or travelling (except my course plan won't let me....) or something.

Also, i need more people who are willing to explore or try new stuff with me. It's nice by yourself but then you want to show/experience it with others too.........

So my friend Carissa came over to visit from Queensland and I only had two hours to show her one of the things i love most about Melbourne - h i d d e n p l a c e s. (The other love is food but our other friend, Joelyn, took on that role while i was at work!) Some places are not so hidden but you might pass by it everyday without even knowing (like the Bernard's Magic Shop on Elizabeth Street) or only realise its charm when someone else wants to check it out.

To me, exploring goes in hand with op shopping. You have to be open minded to get the best out of them.

Japanese inspired hair clip ($2) from RetroStar

Okay, now i'm sure nearly everyone knows about RetroStar but i never knew they had another room filled with more goodies until Friday!

Wish i had taken a picture of all the mini buckets of hair clips and vintage scrunchies. So pretty!

We also shopped along Degraves Street (more for eating really but it's the live music that lures me in) and other arcades and Carissa bought a lot of stuff rofl yay for quirky souvenirs!

The Mini Elf' House in Spellbox

Another popular place is Royal Arcade off Bourke Street but i had never thought of entering SpellBox until Carissa suggested it.

It's this enchanting place full of quills, talismans, witches spells and psychic readings but I think the Elf' House intrigued me the most.

We also spun the Wheel of Stars and my oracles were Letting Go and Purification. hmmm okay but yeah i really like the clothing and toy stores in Royal Arcade..

Oh, and you should check out Kimono House, l'uccello, Pop Up Studio, Collected Works Bookshop, Buttonmania and the other shops in Nicholas Building along Swanston Street too :) Octopusssssssssss

We also had lunch at Oriental Spoon (thankyou for lunch Joelyn!) but if i had more time I would have taken Carissa down Johnston Street (I really want to check out Urban Attitudes), Lygon Street and underneath Degraves Street for more quirky stores. Oh and of course Camberwell Sunday Market and fairs like the Hello Sailor Vintage Fair if she had stayed during the weekend. And then a few more hours for opshopping tehehehehe .. But yeah it was really good catching up with both Carissa and Joelyn and i hope we can meet up again soon :D

By the way, has anyone been to the Underground Cinema yet? I want to go one day!

I've been playing Tiny Tower so much (5 days so far) that even my dreams have sorted themselves into levels. Someone recommended that i download Tiki Totem or something so i will do that soon...

Also had a Marilyn Monroe moment today... i was wearing a very full dress and it completely blew up in the chemist warehouse carpark LOL. I really really hope no one saw or at least that Jonno didn't see.... rofl and then i drove him home afterwards.

Good weather means walking Cino and Espresso everywhere. Still waiting for my packages....

Was an Open Day guide on Sunday... I gave directions and blew up helium balloons and after about 20 my fingers started to chaff and bleed from tying all the balloons... and then i walk out of the door from Up heaven and this one guy asks "can i have half of them?" and i'm like "er no..." look how much pain i had to go through gahhhh but yeah only now do i appreciate the people behind all the balloons THE PAINNNNNN but yeah it was pretty cool blowing them up anyway xD at the end i stopped tying the balloons and tried to find the plastic things to wind them around..

Had my anatomy midsem test today... some of the answers didn't immediately come to me but through the process of elimination i got through it. Was pretty tough in my opinion, especially if you didn't know your stuff.

Time to do prac report now... which i had two weeks to do and it's finally due tomorrow. lol

Went swimming. I bought five things from ASOS today......... oh dear. Four skirts and one jumper.

I didn't buy these items though !!! These three are still on my wish list (how about another $50% off...?) and i hope they restock the wedge boot one in my size...

This cardigan looks really easy to DIY... just sew on a few buttons and a bow or something. :D

Just realised my anatomy test is on tuesday and not wednesday AHHHHHH PANIC oh well good thing i guess since i have a prac report due wednesday too but oh no need to do ADSL by tuesday too hmmm and a billion other stuff i forgot meh

Friday was a very long but enjoyable day. Had a test first thing in the morning (was alright) and then bummed around uni until work. Bailleau library has reopened and there are tai chi/yoga/pilates classes going on upstairs too... LOL but i really like the cute study booths within the book cases and the random tv study lounges strewn across the floor...

Farn picked me up from work and we went to Knox to eat at some japanese restaurant named Sakura Place.

We ordered Pork Belly as an entree (not shown in pictures), Naruto Ramen (has chicken in it) and Japanese Seafood Omelette Rice.

We both really really enjoyed the Omelette Rice but liked Ajisen Ramen's Ramen more haha. Maybe we should try Volcano Ramen next time.... EXPLOSIONNNN

But before our late dinner we visited Myer :D

I got this red cape from Princess Highway (Dangerfield) 50% off and now look like little red riding hood :DDD

Farn also bought this blue casual shirt and i really like the zip on the front pocket. No picture unfortunately.... But from St Lenny from Dangerfield too.

My sister says that Farn and I eat too much when we get together (which is only once a week.... wth) so we are dispelling this fact by exercising next week if the weather holds LOL..... 1000 steps in Dandenong? Only if we get to eat at the cafes there after xD

Anyway, i learned some sign language (Auslan) in my breadth today. I can now sign the alphabet, my name, numbers, colours and random objects/words.... like ambulance, bad, really bad, accident, fire, truck, firetruck, shop, what, traffic.... and i forgot. We were also given sentences/questions that we had to act/sign out to another person but that person couldn't talk either. It was like an advanced cherades and was heaps of fun but i found it quite hard to confirm what the other person was acting out to me without mouthing my own interpretation.

We had a guest speaker come in today who was born hearing but severely deaf so needed a cochlear implant and she gave us more insight on topics like "What do deaf people use as an alarm clock? (vibrators/flashing lights)", "What do you think of deaf parents wanting a deaf child?" and "How does a deaf person learn English?" - The spinal chord diagrams look like the cross section of an eel through its coronal plane to me... (it's true! everything relates to food... just like how a trilaminar embryo is like an oreo cookie somehow!!!!!!)

- Olive bread is yummy. Especially when there are real olives hidden inside it.

- I can't make myself study so i'm alternating between my anatomy book, Angels and Demons and The Danger Game instead. I have no idea what is going on in anatomy at the moment (dura mater? pia mater? white matter? what i thought i understood in the lecture just got contradicted by the textbook. oh noooooo)

- I think it's time for a proper water bottle... not those recycled plastic ones anymore.

- Today SBS weather told me that it was 51 degrees in Baghdad. WTH

- I also took public transport six times today to get everywhere. 908, Belgrave, 75, 768, 295, 907, 901. I could have skipped the last two if i actually drove today.

- And lastly, i can read audiograms now! It's basically the results of a hearing test and determines the level of deafness in both ears at different frequencies and whether you have conductive hearing loss (problem in outer and/or middle ear) and/or sensorineural (inner ear) deafness. Hoping to learn sign language soon....

I recently thrifted this jumper for $9 at the Australian Red Cross in Camberwell before work. I originally bought it for Laura (and she has been wearing it everyday since... even sleeping in it!) but i can fit into it too. They were having a 50% off sale storewide but the lady said it wouldn't last long... which is sad because the original $20-80 price range is not what i call opshop pricing! I find that Australian Red Cross is one of the more expensive opshops around. However, everything is in extremely good condition and laundered of any musty smells and stains that most secondhand clothes seem to have.

I've also finished reading "The Family Law" - Benjamin Law which i highly recommend for its wit and relevance to most of our ABC upbringing. He's Australian and also writes for Frankie magazine.

Right now i'm reading "The Danger Game" - Kalinda Ashton and it's alright so far. Feels really dreamy and subtle...

Today i wagged my (9am) only class to spend the day with Farn :) We cooked Marion Grasby's Deep Fried Eggs with Bacon Mash (bacon is cheaper than the suggested smoked eel) and Jamie Oliver's Eggy Crumpets with Chilli and Honey Bacon.

The recipe for the eggy crumpets is here and is unbelievably simple. It calls for one thinly sliced red chilli but we decided to use leftover Extra Extra Hot Peri Peri Sauce.

...it had no effect unlike a real chilli pepper but it still tasted good!

I can't find Marion Grasby's recipe online because Farn gave me the actual cook book but i can explain the cooking process briefly!

Smoked Eel/Bacon Mash:

1. Wash, peel and quarter a few floury potatoes (sebago/coliban/spunta) and cook them over medium heat for 15-20minutes in cold salted water. Drain well and mash with the smoked eel/cooked bacon.

2. Combine pouring cream, extra virgin olive oil, one peeled and bruised garlic, thyme, cracked pepper and salt into a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer. After tasting and adjusting, take it off the heat and let the flavours continue to infuse.

3. Strain the cream mixture through a sieve and gradually add to the mash while mixing to help the emulsification.

Deep Fried Egg:

1. Bring water in a deep saucepan to a medium heat and pour two table spoons of white vinegar in. Wait for small bubbles to rise from the bottom to the surface and do not let them bubble furiously.

2. To poach the eggs, swirl the bubbling water around and carefully slide the cracked egg into the middle of the created whirlpool. This is the trick to a good poached egg!

Cook them for ~4 minutes.

3. Drain the poached eggs and then roll them in plain flour, beaten egg and then Japanese Panko breadcrumbs in that order.

4. Test to see if the (vegetable) oil is hot enough by poking a wooden chopstick in and seeing if furious bubbles appear around it. Gently ladle one crumbed egg into the oil and baste it for 20 to 30 seconds until golden brown on both sides. Voila!

I also highly recommend drizzling some honey over your bacon the next time you eat it. After eating and cleaning up we went to get KFC and watched the dying sunset at Ruffey Lake Park :)

Hope you learned something from this post but now it's time for me to study some anatomy....

Saturday: Today i woke up to an extra snuggly bed and lots of yummy food. I also ran up a hill today... which made me crave for the Kalamata Olive Dip again :D

Friday: Had work and then sushi train for dinner in Box Hill (whitehorse road)

Thursday: I spent the day with Farn at Scienceworks (i like the Bodyworks section), ate lunch at Footscray and enjoyed hot jam doughnuts and fob rolls while watching Bridesmaids at Crown.

He also bought me Marion Grasby's cook book for our two year anniversary present :DDDDDDDD SO EXCITED TO COOK EVERYTHING IN THERE.

Wednesday:

I made Spaghetti Marmite with Walnuts for lunch and saved some for Laura after i picked her up from school.

It's one of Nigella Lawson's recipes and even if you don't like marmite/vegemite i promise you the salty flavour is very subtle underneath the creaminess of the butter and shaved cheese.

Katherine, you would eat this right??????

I promise you it's really good and EASY TO MAKE :D

I also went op shopping before i picked Laura up but only had 15 minutes to look through the shop.... i need at least 30 minutes damnit !!!

However, i did find this Sportsgirl top for only $4 and not only is it in great condition and the perfect size but it also feels nice...

For those who know me, i think we have all realized how much stuff i own that is nice to touch (jacket, satchel, knee o.O etc...) rofl..

Tuesday: I did nothing but eat Gelare Waffles with Praline n' Cream Icecream at 10pm....?

Monday: Went to Kitchen Workshop at Crown with Melbourne Uni group :) I also unsuccessfully dyed my hair at home and my hair stank like hair dye for three days.... Unsuccessful as in the colour (deep brown with slight tinge of red) did not show very well.

So we went to Ocean Grove and ate a lot... On the last night i ate so much (trying to finish all the food) that i suddenly felt really sleepy. That was really strange because usually i just get a stomach ache HAHA i guess my parasympathetic stimulation kicked in for once... instead of the usual autonomic nervous system confusion...

Spontaneous decision of the day? Probably deciding to buy hair dye with Laura... we'll see how it goes?

Oh god i opened the hair dye box and nearly bit onto the contents because i was so hungry and suddenly thought they were biscuits........ nuuuuuu HAHA

Freshly baked bread by Adhi. When we run out of bread we just bake our own.. that's how we roll!

I need to sleep and then eat and we'll repeat that cycle a billion more times with lots of shopping, work, outings and Masterchef :)

Friday was Transformers 3, Monday was Kung Fu Panda 2, Tuesday was Transformers 3 again but with laura and today was Bridesmaids. I thought i couldn't take another movie after Transformers completely bombed my eyes out but thankfully Bridesmaids was really easy on my poor eyes and one of the funniest movies i have ever seen (there's a reason it's MA15+... lots of sexual innuendo). bahahahahaha

omg just looking at the cover makes me feel happy <3

TWO: I drove to Torquay on the weekend. Driving through Greensborough is weird and Geelong is really big.........kinda.

THREE: I finally gave Farn his two year anniversary present (only two months late.......) Superdry belt! :)

FOUR: Jacky is now a pufferfish !!!!!! LOL, in other words i picked him up from his wisdom teeth surgery and i don't think he remembered anything the nurse told him......... so good thing i was there lol.

I've heard a lot about this book but since i don't even wear make up i'll have to flick through it first and maybe buy it for Laura (and future me) instead?

There's a few things running through my head these days....

1. "Down down prices are down" oh my god this stupid song kept me awake all of last night after watching Tomic vs Djokovic's match. No wonder i couldn't sleep.

2. I am sleeping more but why do i feel so tired still.

Haven't really done much apart from shop and helping mum out but now I'm really dead from clubbing and walking in high heels all of last night. Everyoneeeeeee (LOL at spanky) was there which was really good but I think i prefer Neverland to Seven. I also don't want to eat Maccas for the next six months after eating it at 4:30am for dinner and then 9am for breakfast. But their chicken nuggets are so irresistible :(

Anyway, these are some Dotti clothes i like but am not sure whether to buy :) I have bought two pairs of heels from Betts in the past few days - one for my sister's birthday present and the other as a comfier alternative to party in.

Okay, I need to catch up on 24+ hours of no sleep. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So exams are over and I've been over indulging in dips.... particularly this Mediterranean Kalamata Olive Dip lately. oh my god it is so good so you only need a little bit at a time because the olives are really powerful yet there is this creamy aftertaste which counteracts the sharpness of the olives.

Katherine, I really think you should try this dip if you haven't already because if anyone will eat the strange things that i like then it will be you :) Except olives aren't strange things at all!! Perhaps a more acquired taste but definitely not strange :)

Anyway, I watched the movie Super8 today and i highly recommend it. Humorous yet chilling at times, this movie is led by a very talented young cast and you can definitely see the Steven Spielberg behind the effects. I'm also really glad they ended the movie on a positive note or i would have shat myself on the drive home (at night).

I also got an email confirming my place as an Open Day Guide for Melb Uni :) This is a good start to the holidays.

As promised, here are the Poached Pears in Red Wine with Sabayon.

Damn, I was going to write up the recipe but I can't remember how to make the two most important bits - the sauce for the pears to stew in and the sabayon.

I'm also braindead after my exam today and my hand hurts. In fact, why am i even on the computer on my "break". If anything, my eyes and brain are probably hurting from the screen light and information.

But don't worry, i remember some bits..........

like 1. Peel four pears, leaving the stems on. LOL

...and then i forget how to make the sauce LOL. But it does include orange peels, red wine, sugar, star anise, rose water, something something.... @.@ where is the recipe damnit

But you basically poach the four pears in the said ingredients over the stove for ten minutes. Then place the dish in a baking tray and cover it with aluminium foil.

Poach for 50minutes - 1 hour and your pears should have a lovely red tinge to them along with the most incredible aroma (due to the rosewater) !!!!

To make the sabayon, you whisk 3 egg yolks and caster sugar and then cook it over a bain marie (water bath). I would have liked it thicker but i guess we just wanted to eat it straight away....

I can't wait to go shopping after exams :) So many things to buy yayyyyyyyyyy

Listening to the "Next to Normal" soundtrack is quite soothing actually. It blocks out Laura's high pitched violin next door omg why did she pick something so high pitched....

yay biochem is over :D

I sat down at my table and nearly shat myself during reading time because i had to go through six booklets with 31 pages altogether. I SWEAR THE PRACTICE PAPERS DIDN'T FEEL AS LONG. But the exam itself was pretty good i'm glad the cramming paid off but there were some small things i didn't know or remember like er i completely blanked out upon seeing "alpha - chymotrypsin enzyme" errrr sorry don't remember which class of enzyme that is in and some other small stuff like oh dear the difference in structures between glycerophospholipid, phospherolipid and glycolipid etc and wth does NAD look like i forgot so hopefully all the small mistakes didn't accumulate into something too big.......

My head hurt so much last night that even my dreams didn't ease the pain because i dreamed that i had to learn all this other biochem stuff and i was panicking in my dream too...

Anyway i was wondering, you know how people use heat sensors, UV radiation or fluorescence recovery to test the movement or presence of something well ... i was thinking about all the knowledge (crammed) into people's heads prior to the exam. Like if you could look down onto the masses of students entering the building or sitting at their desks and somehow "see" the wisps of knowledge floating around their heads or leaving them as soon as it's written down on paper? And then when people exit the hall the "aura" of knowledge has softened or been replaced by more...emotional auras like relief or frustration.

oh my god my brain is overloaded with so much information....

but at least the guilt and motivation to do well (enough) has warded off any chance of shopping. I had at least two chances this week (including a $10 gift voucher that expired today) to go shopping but I actually didn't want to go despite looking forward to some retail therapy after my exam on Monday. Even Zara's opening next Wednesday right after my biochem exam will not deter me because my studying schedule is packed and i need to start waking up earlier than 10:30am-11am because after showering, walking the dogs for 30min-1hour, eating breakfast, feeding them breakfast i still want to sit down and watch my beloved The Circle/ Murder, She Wrote. Oh, and the daily checking stuff blahhhh.. yeah i should sleep earlier than 2am too.

my Odo Hirsch book came in the mail today :D I LOVE ODO HIRSCH AND HAZEL GREEN but this book is called Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool and the cover is so pretty i am so excited to read all my new books after i finish learning everything else first..............

oh and Laura and i have been cooking so much everyday. the other day we made Poached Pears in Red Wine with Sabayon, Bruschetta (laura), Cinnamon Milk Jam and a Nutmeg Omelette with Mushrooms, Tuna, Zucchini and Parmesan. look forward to pics next time? once my stupid net works again?

I've taken a break from studying/cramming and read an article called "Food, Glorious Food" in this Saturday's The Age "Good Weekend" magazine. It talks about our relationship with food with regards to consumerism, the art of food writing and human character, experience and emotion. In fact, I found all articles (even the ones by the writers i dislike were okay) rather enlightening.

I'm also really glad that the Masterchef hosts made the contestants cook with only tinned/frozen foods in one challenge because not all of us can afford such a pretentious attitude to food despite how good it looks......

And i should get back to learning about energy partitioning in animals.........

Just a sneak peek at my current Dotti wishlist.... :D

I really like this shade of blue. I've also seen people wear the bow more loosely around their neck so both ways could work.

I'm not too sure about the off-shoulder cut but the material and this Tawny Port colour really did catch my eye... I guess because i never wear this colour and it looks so warm? It also comes in Ginger Spice and Pecan.

Yay! This one's on sale at the moment :) It also comes in Charcoal but I was mostly drawn by the Rosedust colour and the knitting pattern. What is it? It's like cable knit but not.... Maybe it's Basque. what on earth is Basque... LOL

Again, another one on sale in a similar colour. I don't think this is in store anymore though because I couldn't find any on the first day of the massive Dotti sale in the Melbourne Central store! Who knows but i really did want to see what it meant by "lace back" shirt. Maybe i'll try shoppo...

Did anyone else watch this when they were young (in the 1990's)???? I can think of so many good TV shows back then.... the cartoons these days don't even come close. What does it mean to be 20 or nearly 20 years of age?

At what age do we truly grow up?

What if "spoiled" people aren't really "spoiled" in their own (and their parents') eyes? What if the reason they haven't "grown up" and taken full responsibility for themselves yet is because they still perceive themselves as a kid. And even their parents haven't realised/don't want to realise that their child is growing up.

Silent reader or not, I would really like to know your thoughts on this. It's been bothering me as of late because I don't want to grow up anymore but I also do.

I keep thinking "Would they still say this/stop me from this once i turn 20? Once i turn 21? Surely not at 25?"

And despite being grateful for my parents' love and guidance, all i see is blur sometimes.

What i want to know is, how closely are our body mechanisms tied to our dreams?

I was becoming increasingly upset about something in my dream (I, the villain, was being wrongly accused of something and began to hyperventilate as i tried to prove my innocence to the other creatures) and I suddenly awoke with serious palpitations. This was ensued by a lasting tightness in the chest.

I'm pretty sure my heart is healthy but i thought back to what I learned about palpitations in Human Physiology yesterday anyway. Either way, I'm wondering if it was because i had just begun to "wake/become conscious of reality" and therefore everything became so much more real.

Oh, and i just read that in one stage of your sleep "you are paralyzed from the neck down, your eye movements are jerky and rapid, your heart rate fluctuates, your breadth rate changes. Sometimes when you wake up from an especially intense REM episode you may be panting, your heart's pounding and you're sweating. " (http://www.spiritwatch.ca/brain.htm) You're paralyzed so you don't act out everything in your dreams.

Enough for today. Something else happened today that scared me but I think i'll go eat instead....

Hey guys, so it's finally the end of semester one and i am so over studying........ Exams are in one week though :(

What else have i been doing? Well.. I bought ten books in the past week from The Book Depository (5) and Melbourne Uni Book Sale (other 5). So the average price i paid per book was around $6-$12 and i can't wait to show them to you guys later :)

By the way, they're having an extra 10% off sale now (ends 31st May) and who could resist that??? Not me hehehehe sigh going broke from reading books....

Watch this if i haven't already shown you. It is so inspiring - i want a musical house too!!!

Today i decided halfway through my nap that i didn't like the dream i was having so i made myself dream up a better version. And it worked... to an extent.

So the dream began with me boarding a train from The White City (...it looked white so i named it that in my dream) to... Box Hill. Except this Box Hill wasn't the Asian filled one we know - instead imagine a gothic and grungy Westminster Abbey. Yes, i had suddenly turned this suburb into some menacing and dark cathedral....

After running away from class and my scary, Trunchbull-like teacher (i think this reflects how much uni i skipped this week...), Farn called me to have lunch with him and his soccer (?) friends. So i jumped off the train and found them in some Chinese restaurant. Then i excused myself to go to the bathroom but ended up getting lost for 1.5 hours....... After totally missing the shortcut to the toilet, I managed to gatecrash one wedding on each of the three levels of the abbey and finally find myself in the Slytherin girls' bathroom.

This was when i decided to create a new version of my dream because who takes 1.5 hours to find the bathroom anyway??????

So this time I decided jumping off a plane would be cooler and found the shortcut to the bathroom. But when i finally got back to Farn and his friends, they had all KO-ed in a hotel room... LOL WTH.

But yeah... I don't think i had planned on getting them all drunk the second time round..... rofl oops xD

Also, the stomach doesn't absorb food. But it can absorb a few lipid soluble substances like alcohol and aspirin which is why you should drink on a full stomach to delay the effects of alcohol. And eat a fatty meal while you're at it too - fats take longer to digest than carbohydrates and proteins. But if you overwhelm the small intestine with too much chyme at one time you're going to get diarrhoea.

Must...revise three more lectures tonight.....

No proper pictures today but i can safely say that I've had a rather enjoyable (but not so studious) weekend.

I didn't have work yesterday so i went to help out mum for longer. Also bought two pairs of jeans from Just Jeans (yes. it's true. i haven't worn jeans since year 12 - got replaced by skirts, leggings & trackies - but i will be wearing these jeans. it's getting cold anyway) and did no study. Oh, and if you want updates on mid season sales or a particular item like jackets, ask me. I've speculated and window shopped enough to know. How sad....

Today i woke up and went on a double date to the footy (Hawthorn vs St Kilda) with Farn, Emily and Vincent. I have to say, it was a lot better than i expected because i was brought up to begrudge this kind of sport... in fact after mum calmed down, she told me to tell dad i was going to a birthday party in the city instead otherwise he would have a fit lol.

But yeah, it was freezing but still good (especially since Hawthorn won) and i got to keep one of Farn's many Hawthorn scarves and am looking forward to a pom pom next time :) LOL

Today, i had an Enoki Mushroom & Tomato Omelette Sandwich for breakfast :) I guess mum ran out of rice and decided to put it in toast instead.

Anyway, I bought this jumper today and the necklace is just to show one way I would wear it. (Also considering the blue bowtie necklace Fiona gave me for my bday)

I think i will go look for more of these necklaces now... do they have a special name?

Gah i woke up late for uni again... and also slipped on the wet pavement outside The Spot on the way to class.

So now i have scabs and bruises all over my leg :(

(Yes.... My half hearted attempt to do an outfit post. The sleeves are slightly ruched but you can't tell here.. and sorry about the pjs hehe)

But then i hobbled to class and found out i got full marks on my second breadth essay too :)

YAY so all was good despite my stupid kneecap.

I also can't believe i wagged this week's breadth lectures to finish my other essay... I WAS WAITING TO LEARN ABOUT COCOA AND CHOCOLATE AND I MISSED IT UN/INTENTIONALLY.

How social/antisocial is your family?

In the beginning (late 1990s), the four of us would go out for dinner and mum would let my sister and I bring books to read while waiting for the food. Not sure if it helped my English in the end, but the point is that ten years on with iPhones, iPads and phones that can surf the internet.... my family has gotten even more antisocial and I don't approve.

Maybe we just weren't as social to begin with but it's usually dad on his iPhone, sister facebooking on her phone and mum sometimes reading the paper. Mum then tells me to read the paper but instead i continue to annoy my sister or just sit there wondering if the people around us are thinking the same thing - "omg this family is so antisocial".

There's nothing wrong with my family but we could definitely communicate more at times. So when i grow up, I am definitely not allowing anyone in my family constantly surf some gadget when we could be talking instead.

What about you?

N.B - I would like to add that it is only at dinner time that this issue occurs. Otherwise, we all interact pretty well with each other - with some more than others though.

"Eight ways to win your heart"

Okay, I admit that I have been putting this one off because I don't know how to answer it. So i'll just answer with the mindset of how to continue "winning my heart" and other attributes i find important.

1. We must be good - if not very good - friends in the first place. I won't go out with someone I don't find comfortable talking about nearly anything and everything with.

2. I don't mind how many other girls you hang out with or talk to (because I'm the same with the opposite sex) but only if you continue to show more interest in me than them. No one likes getting jealous for no reason because the other person got cagey or assumed the other person still knows how they feel about them.

3. I like people who smile and laugh a lot :) Especially when we both see the funny side in the silliest and most random things.... LOL

4. Good personality (that matches mine?) heheheeeee ... like, I think being patient is a really good and forgiving virtue.

5. Knowing that you care. I take everything to heart so i really do appreciate even the little things you might not consider so important.

6. I think that hugging and holding hands are nice :)

7. Respect. I hate it when people don't respect/appreciate others and start accusing them for no reason. It makes me so angry and i'm rarely angry!

8. I guess understanding and listening to each other is important to me too. I'm not sure why i picked this one but it does make things a lot easier and more enjoyable...? Hmm

Hello :)

I'm trying to avoid studying glomerular filtration and animal toxicity and malnutrition so... i'm blogging instead? But since i haven't come up with anything to answer Day Three of the blogging challenge, you'll have to feast your eyes on something more visually pleasing instead xD

Anyway, I invited Farn over to cook dinner with me during Easter and we made Spaghetti Bolognaise and a Cinnamon Apple Pie :)

I don't think i'll the post the recipes tonight but i did a mash up between Jamie Oliver's and Taste.com.au's Apple Pie recipes.....

HAHA this pic makes me laugh because i'm not sure if i told him to kiss the pie or not but he did.... oh well rofl

This was the second time i made apple pie (using a slightly different method for the filling) but i think i prefer the first method because the filling was a lot juicier last time but that's also because a lot of the juice trickled out this time... LOL

Still tasted nice though :) Good with icecream/cream/custard and WHEN HOT.

Is it just my computer or... do these pictures seem really pixelated =\

Anyway, the spaghetti bolognaise took like 15 minutes max to cook and it was yummy but i didn't cook enough pasta.... Also wished i had mushrooms, brocolli etc because by the end of the holidays i had run out of food....

Ooh... i also had my first churro yesterday! Except it was not that exciting........ i thought it would be extraordinarily fluffy on the inside instead of fried and crunchy all the way through. I ate something even more exciting today though - a fish fillet sushi! yum :)

I let people borrow books on the condition that they treat them well and use some kind of bookmark :)

5. I like making friends.

6. I don't believe in make up. I am more interested in obtaining the most natural look by eating, drinking and exercising well and using the most suitable skin care products for me.

7. I still don't know what career to pursue.

8. I am a very indecisive shopper. I also speculate too much.

Pumpkin & Mushroom Risotto (recipe)

Hey guys :)

Today, I went to Langham Hotel with Farn and his family for a lunch buffet - it was really really good! But more on that later... Because I'm teaching you guys how to make Pumpkin & Mushroom Risotto tonight :D

To serve two very hungry/three normal people:

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

2. Chop up a quarter of a pumpkin, lots of mushrooms and broccoli

3. Dice 1.5 large/2 small onions and place in a separate bowl.

4. Place the chopped pumpkin and mushroom on a tray and season them with salt, pepper, herbs (eg - thyme, rosemary) and olive oil. Roast for about 20 minutes until golden and tender but make sure it does not turn soft and mushy because you will be cooking it again with the risotto in the end.

5. To prepare the actual risotto, heat up ~750mL of vegetable stock (and water) in a saucepan until it boils. Make sure you keep this warm throughout the entire process and you can always heat up more as you go.

6. Meanwhile, pour some oil and a knob of butter in a large pot. Sweat the diced onions in it and then add a few sploshes of good quality red or white wine and keep stirring until you cook the alcohol off (optional).

7. Now pour one cup of arborio rice and coat it in the oil for 30 seconds before adding one ladle of heated stock.

Notice how grainy the rice appears at first in the picture above. Let the mixture simmer on low heat and make sure you always stir it.

When the rice has absorbed the stock and water, pour in another ladle and repeat this for around 25 minutes until you can see and feel the rice getting plumper and all the starch oozing out.

8. Taste the risotto as you go and season with salt if needed. When the rice grains are nearly cooked, add the chopped broccoli in.

We also added in some lemon zest and juice to lift up the risotto but this is optional (don't let any lemon seeds fall in...yuck)

9. Keep adding stock if needed and now add in the roasted pumpkin and mushrooms.

10. Grate some parmesan cheese and serve up the risotto immediately :)

When you enter the gate to my house, you will be greeted with a pumpkin patch. So if anyone wants a pumpkin... i can give you one. But only if you drive to my house or live really close. Because i'm expecting you to eat it (roast the seeds too!)

Thursday: Was the beginning of ~~the end of my social life~~ my holidays. My parents are away in Canada and mum purposely scheduled things (tuition & eisteddfords) for Laura nearly everyday during my break... add to that our own individual outings, going to mum's clinic to do paperwork, gym, household chores, dogs and cooking dinner..... oh god. They're lucky i can drive..

Took Laura to violin and went over to friend's house for dinner and catch up :)

Friday: I can't remember what i did anymore. I think i walked the dogs for 1.5 hours with Tom. And Laura and i developed a system of looking after ourselves and the house.

Saturday: House party at mine. Co hosted with Laura though. During every minute of it i thought it was all shit (Espresso wouldn't come inside because of all the people and the music was too loud.) but then i realised her friends are actually really nice.... and then i got only three hours of sleep because of all the noise. Oh, and i also did my eyebrows while Laura was at tuition. And La Senza opened in shoppo :)

Sunday: By 12pm, the house was finally quiet again. THANK GOD. Had yum cha and bonded with the little kids - I think i only want children up to the age when they start to think for themselves... because if you didn't raise them properly/environment wasn't good then it's going to be hell to reverse that kind of behaviour. Met up with Tom while Laura was at tuition. Took her to a party... then went to my one up the road... food and company were good :)

Monday: Discovered my growing pumpkin patch. Extremely foggy. Got some biochem done.

It's 3am and i can't sleep because i'm feeling so many jumbled emotions that i don't know what else to do but get up and dissolve myself in music and so far shuffle is being good to me. I don't really know what is going on atm but all i do now is get upset really easily and how do you even talk about this to someone like what can you say i don't understand what's going on anymore.

Life is really not that bad - in fact it's alright - but when you start thinking before you sleep everything seems so much worse so i have to learn to fall asleep immediately or i'm going to go crazy.

I need to sleep.

sigh i tried to upload a video of Bruno Mars singing "Just the Way You Are" live but blogger cancelled it.....great.....

But yeah, it was really really good !!!!! And I love Bruno Mars but I love Farn even more for getting me the concert tickets for my birthday tehehehehehehe :)

After getting squished in the moshpit, I can say that I have become close to many people on a new level.....LOL Actually, despite getting mega insulated by the fat lady on my left and forced to smell hair product and shampoo on my right, I'm glad we were standing on the floor because the atmosphere would've been heaps better than in the stands. You get to jump around and get really into it lol

Anyway, I just finished all my midsems so i feel freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and I'm actually impressed that one of the subject people bothered to send a "Congratulations on your midsem results" letter.

My holidays started on Thursday actually.... helped laura make an apple pie.... went to friend's house for dinner.... have a lot of studying to do...... oh and i watched "The Secret Life of Bees" last night.. i really like it :D And i bought a pair of Dotti boots too :)

I think today was a good start towards one. I really had a lot of fun today with you guys :) Malaysia kitchen, op shopping, icecream and lolly making and goldfishiessssss.

It's been so cold lately... I downloaded the Tangled soundtrack and also baked a Fig Tart and a Carrot, Chestnut and Walnut cake with Laura. So look forward to those recipes soon :)

Bought two dresses from Dotti on sale... and i'm seriously considering having my own stall at Camberwell Sunday Market soon. I could easily give away half my wardrobe to people who would make better use of it... :) And don't worry they're not rubbish clothes LOL they are nice but just too big or small for me.

Sister is on holidays now... so i borrowed lots of DVDs for her from the Rowden White Library so she could stop sucking up the net... i need to lectopia so i don't fail the biochem test next week!!!

I also wake up with a triple eyelid every Wednesday morning.

On Monday i had a peanut butter and mushroom omelette sandwich for breakfast. It was actually really good! I think my mum made too much omelette for lunch and put the rest in my toast...

Last night, I went out with Farn for dinner and we had two dishes - "Pork Belly with Taro" and "Fried Tofu with Prawn Meat" with rice. It was yummy! Then we met up with everyone else and I stuffed myself even more (with the "Colossal" ... mega drool with the fudge) at Pancake Parlour... Got a really bad stomach ache from so much food LOL it was so bad that i was too scared to drive back home without taking a dump first at his house in case i really needed to go toilet on the way home.... like whose house could i randomly crash at 12:30am anyway???? People would think they're being burgled but NO I JUST NEED TO USE YOUR TOILET rofl

I also had two mid sem tests yesterday so life is pretty chill at the moment.

Time to collect more recipes.

Time for a more serious post... I don't even know why i blog or why i continue to due to the lack of obvious feedback but I do know that I blog for myself first and have only recently begun to blog for the world too. But according to my stats, it seems a lot of you are interested in my life anyway so I will continue to blog but this post is just for me really.

In Animal Health I learned about how most pathogens cause subclinical infections (organism infecting animal but no obvious symptoms) MORE than clinical infections (obvious signs). This made me realise how much faith we (subconsciously at first?) have in our vets and doctors - basically anyone superior in a field - to make both correct short and long term judgements about our wellbeing. After learning about the different life cycles many parasites have (eg - infective as larvae but not as adults or vice versa), I became paranoid that my dogs had something like Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm) in them because that only causes a problem over a long period of time but i wouldn't be able to tell (if infected/which symptoms relate to which cause/s etc ...should get them rechecked). Which comes back to how much we rely on the knowledge and integrity of our vets' and doctors' observations and diagnoses. It also reminds me of some article i read in the The Triple Helix magazine over a dispute of "wrongful" birth regarding the responsibilities of a medical practitioner and the Law. I can't remember the facts but it did emphasise that with advancing technology also comes increasing responsibility to foresee problems and whether a practitioner who cannot with absolute certainty prevent a child from being born with a disability be held liable.

That being said, I have now run out of stuff to write. For now.

Guess what! I'm finally doing a proper blogpost for you guys :) This birthday post is almost a month overdue (so my hair is different now) but i did promise to write about it...

So, I finally turned 19 and i admit i wasn't looking forward to it - who doesn't want to stay 18? One step further from 20 than 19. The ten of us (family, family friends & Farn) went to celebrate my birthday dinner at Shanghai Dynasty in the city (It's above Dragon Boat Palace in Chinatown and it is fully..........bling. Golden. Versace plates made in China (?) Awesome teapots. I don't know how else to describe it)

I think our moustaches look excellent... a bit droopy but i bet you never saw a finer pair! hehe (Actually i would hate to have a moustache/beard. It'd turn into this disgusting treasure trove of food.........)

Which Roald Dahl book had the drawings of a man with a beard with food in it.....??

HAHAHA I have about 100 photos of us camwhoring and there's another pic of us showing off our double/triple/quadruple/could it get any worse???- chins but it was so unattractive that the camera couldn't handle it and decided to blur our faces for the sake of the world.

I don't remember getting my hands dirty so that cancels crab/lobster & noodles off the menu. I think we ate pork, black and white fungus, vegetables, fish, wasabi prawns, meat, rice...tofu? Man, i have bad memory.

But it was really yummy until we got to the food platter. Mushy watermelon.... soft cantelope.... ewww. At least they didn't give us red bean dessert soup i really dislike that stuff..

I really like "Liquor Store Blues" - Bruno Mars at the moment and am suddenly into "Cool" by Gwen Stefani again. Sounds so old school and.... simple compared to a lot of the heavily auto tuned stuff now.

I also learned about diarrhoea in neonatal ruminants this week in Animal Health and the lecturer brought in a jar of tapeworms, ringworms etc and held each one of them up in class... and then he pretended to almost eat one (the fettucini lookalike tapeworm) to scare us omgggg LOL

We were actually going to eat at Gum Fook in shoppo (you must try their humungous fried wontons... YUMMY so crispy and the sauce is excellent) but then my parents saw the ad for Shanghai Dynasty in the chinese newspaper (it just opened) and decided to give it a shot. And it was a good choice too :)

And... the presents. I actually don't have any pictures of them yet but i can tell you i got a lot of red pocket money and awesome gifts :) So thankyou to everyone who made my day wonderful and i am looking forward to one of my presents in about two weeks time ...(thankyou for the Bruno Mars tickets Farn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

What can i say. I really dislike my new haircut.

10cm shorter so all the split ends are gone and now sits above my chest. Side fringe is too short for my liking but it will grow out soon.

And i look like a little kid.

It's not a massive change and it's not THAT bad but seriously, i want my long hair back. Even if it was a tangled mess at the bottom and i had too much hair in my face but at least i had MORE HAIR.

It's okay. It's just hair. Give it a few weeks.

As a first year uni student, I thought that everyone and everything would last for some time. But now as a second year student, I can see that people are already preparing to go. I guess they weren't planning on staying for long anyway.

So wherever you go, I hope it's the right place. But i really hope things stay the same between us - between all of us.

So.. I've decided that i really like my Food for a Healthy Planet tutor and because of that i feel bad for coming up to 20minutes late to every class so far. It's a 9am tute by the way. And i really did try to come on time today (i took the wrong tram last week and ended up in nowhere/had to walk back) but... my tram collided with a truck on Elizabeth Street. Stupid truck. Luckily everyone was okay but then i had to walk all the way up to Berkeley Street instead....

I also have NO IDEA what is going on in human physiology ever since we changed lecturers (the PRS interactive questions don't count because i only get them right by using past knowledge... not what i understood in the actual lecture) but everything in biochem is going well so far. And animal health is a nice break from everything :)

Other than that..... I am still hunting for affordable sweaters, oxfords, flats and dresses. I think it's time we go opshopping.

P.S - check out Rampage at the bus stops outside QV - you'll find some really great bargains there for both girl and guy clothing and don't go to the Fox store on the other side of QV because the Rampage stock there is not (as) discounted.

I think i will try the lobster salad and cream cheese sushi combo one day. Looking to volunteer in Cambodia/South Africa and help out the kids, wildlife and the elephants for two weeks. I really, really want to go (be chosen)!!!!!! And I also sat on a damp seat on the bus today...................great. Came home and showered immediately. My poor bum =(

I have 30 eggs in the fridge (I think i know what we're eating for dinner tonight....or not. Mum just suggested eating out. okay!) and 6 are outside on the bench because there's no more room in the tray.

Anyway, just got back from work and driving on such a nice day is so soothing. Since i didn't have any tissues to blow my nose with my nose clogged up during teaching and i suddenly got a british accent. LOL okay....

And guess what! I won Dotti's High Tea Competition so i get to take three friends with me (already picked and confirmed - sorry) and will be having afternoon tea somewhere nice soon so i better email them back and confirm what day and time this yummy food occasion will be on....... hehe :D

My phone hates me. Yesterday it wouldn't let me press the 'disconnect' button to go back to main menu straight away and instead made me press 'back' a million times. And today it just shut down on me in the middle of texting someone. I really think it's because i have 3000+ text messages in my inbox and another 3000 in my outbox. I should really delete some.....

Also, my nose has been peeling after blowing my nose every ten minutes for three days and I found a navy dress with gold buttons on sale at Dotti. But it's still pretty expensive so i'll wait for it to reduce in price again.... And i had a test today.

Otherwise, my life is pretty boring.

Having this crazy shopping impulse atm.... trying to find some nice short sleeved dresses for winter now..... spaghetti straps are too cold now.

I'm falling behind in biochem... got some serious study to do tonight otherwise i'll be even more wtf in the tute tomorrow... since i can't even rely on the tute to help me - it's that hopeless but maybe it'll get better this week :)

Hmm... so what did i learn today? I learned that bone density increases with greater calcium intake (obviously) but you also need to exercise otherwise nothing will happen. And i learned that sufficient Vitamin D helps urinary Ca absorption in the kidney and increases bone mineralisation too.

So i guess calcium and vitamin D work together and that's what forced me to go for a run/fast walk this evening.

And i'm out with sniffles and congee.

gah so tired i think i smell noodles but my nose is too blocked to tell.... I think i'm imagining udon or ramen because i was just looking up japanese eating places in the city nuuuuuuuu

So i'm sick with a runny nose and the occasional blood from a blood vessel that burst and i found lots of tissue packets for only $2 at the Reject Shop today yay! Finished uni at 11:30am today and then went home at 6pm after spending the day with Farn. We bought crepes from that French creperie near brownless and he told the guy "Julian" but he wrote it as "Julia" so i guess we are Julian and Julia now eh?

...... no thanks, i don't want to be called Julia.

What i learned in animal health yesterday... that Taurine is an essential amino acid that cats need and is only found in meat so therefore they must at least be carnivorous... whereas dogs don't have any essential amino acids that can only be taken up in their diet but since they have a more complex digestive system than cats they are considered more as omnivores (not true carnivores) since they also eat vegetables. But i guess you could try and feed cats vegetables with the occasional meat but their digestive tract may be too simple to digest the plant material in vegetables...... Therefore the more herbivorous an animal the more complicated their digestive tract is because they need more space and time to digest the plant fibre.

Helloooooooooooo I am in rowden white library at the moment waiting for lunch and Jacky got kicked off his computer teheheh so he's somewhere in the corner now.

Anyway, it's my birthday today and it's been really good so far apart from missing my bus.....again.... BUT IT'S OKAY! Because the next bus came super early yay!

I had a day off last Thursday so hopefully there are people to spend my birthday with at lunch today :) I will post pictures of presents.... later....next week.... never...okayokay
